Six Years in Business: A Celebration of Balance, Community and Growth 

Six years. It’s a milestone I’m incredibly proud of, and as I take a moment to reflect on my journey, I can’t help but think about what the number six represents. Often associated with balance, responsibility, nurturing, and harmony, the number six couldn’t be more fitting for my business ethos as I move forward into the next year. 

Over the past six years, I’ve been privileged to work with an incredible range of SME and micro businesses, not-for-profit organisations, and small charities. Being a key and helpful member of our local business community has always been at the heart of what I do, and as I celebrate this anniversary, I want to reaffirm my commitment to the values that have brought me this far. 

The Power of Six in Business 

The essence of six is harmony and support, and these values are exactly what I aim to embody in my relationships with clients, partners, and the community. Here’s how I plan to embrace the spirit of six in the year ahead: 

1. Balance in Business 

Balance is crucial in all aspects of life, and business is no exception. I believe that sustainable success comes from managing priorities effectively. There are always aspects of running a business which aren’t as exciting as others, but they should all receive the attention they deserve. This year, I’ll continue to move forward, ensuring a well-rounded approach that benefits everyone I work with. 

2. Nurturing My Clients and Community 

Strong relationships don’t happen overnight. Just like nurturing a plant, building trust with clients takes time, care, and consistency. I understand that every lead, every contact, and every business I support requires a tailored, thoughtful approach. My goal for this year is to deepen these relationships, staying committed to being a reliable, long-term partner to those who need my support. As Maya Angelou wisely put it, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” I strive to make my clients feel valued and supported, always. 

3. Creating Unity in Business 

A thriving business community is built on collaboration, trust, and shared success. I believe in lifting others up and creating an environment where businesses can support one another rather than compete. By fostering open communication, celebrating achievements, and encouraging empathy, I aim to bring even greater unity to my network. 

4. Supporting Others Through Responsibility and Care 

Responsibility means being accountable—not just for my business, but for the wider community. Small businesses, charities, and not-for-profits are the backbone of our local economy, and I take my role in supporting them seriously. Whether it’s through sharing knowledge, offering guidance, or simply lending a listening ear, I’m here to help others succeed. 

5. A Fresh Perspective for Balanced Growth 

Sometimes, all a business needs is a fresh pair of eyes. Bringing balance doesn’t just apply to my own operations—it’s something I offer to my clients, too. By stepping back and viewing their challenges and opportunities impartially, I help them gain clarity and direction. This approach ensures they grow in a way that is sustainable, considered, and aligned with their long-term goals. 

6. Fostering a Culture of Fairness and Respect 

As a sole trader, my business is built on the relationships I form with clients, collaborators, and the wider community. I believe in treating everyone with fairness and respect, ensuring that every interaction is meaningful and positive. Whether I’m working directly with clients or partnering with other businesses, I aim to create an environment where people feel valued, supported, and heard. By maintaining strong professional ethics and fostering mutual respect, I can continue to build lasting and beneficial connections. 

Looking Ahead 

As I step into my seventh year, my focus remains on balance, nurturing, unity, responsibility, perspective, and respect. These six pillars will guide me as I continue to grow and support the businesses and charities that make our community thrive.
